RSB offers a full service program for masts and booms, which includes:

Rig Inspections

A RSB technician will provide a full evaluation of the mast and associated fittings. A full report detailing any identified problems and necessary works to rectify these issues will be generated. The rig log will be updated and a copy of this sent to the mast manufacturer if necessary.

Annual Inspections

The mast is lowered off the mast shims and all fittings are examined. Rod heads are cleaned and re-lubricated wherever possible. The mast is re-jacked and any necessary tuning carried out. A full report is prepared for the boat and if necessary copied to the mast manufacturer.

4 Year Service

The mast is prepared for un-stepping and during this time a full inspection is carried out. This allows for measurements to be taken of spreader angles, pre-bend and turnbuckle and furler settings to be annotated. The mast is then un-stepped and the rods and fittings cleaned ready for inspection. At this time it is recommended that all the diagonals and fore and aft rods are re-headed. The associated fittings are thoroughly cleaned and recommended for non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure there are no additional faults or weaknesses. Once the necessary work has been carried out the mast is re-stepped. The rig log is updated and a copy of this sent to the boat and if necessary to the mast manufacturer.

8 Year Service

The mast is prepared for un-stepping and during this time a full inspection is carried out. This allows for measurements to be taken of spreader angle, pre-bend and turnbuckle and furler settings to be annotated. The mast is then un-stepped and the rods and fittings cleaned ready for inspection. It is usually recommended at this stage that all rods be re-headed. We aim wherever possible, to reuse existing rods providing the NDT survey shows no flaws. Once the necessary work has been carried out the mast is re-stepped. The rig log is updated and a copy of this sent to the boat and if necessary the mast manufacturer.
