RSB Rig Pro re-install Red Dragons forestays...


While the mast was being re-stepped onboard Tenaz in the big lifting pit, at the other end of the yard the rest of the RSB Rig Pro team were maneuvering the twin headstays and inner forestay beside the 65 meter mast from Red Dragon. The new Future Fibre PBO cables have been fitted into the carbon foils and with the use of 3 truck cranes and a large number of lifting slings these stays were lifted and positioned on the mast where they were pinned in preparation for the re-stepping procedure later this week.

RSB Rig Pro and THL restep Tenaz rig...


RSB Rig Pro working with riggers from THL re-stepped the 43 meter mast onboard the Dubois designed sloop Tenaz on Friday. The mast was unstepped in November for a rod refit that was carried out in conjunction with standing rigging manufacturer BSI. The operation went with out a hitch and the tuning procedure is underway to get the boat ready for the upcoming seat trial.

RSB Rig Pro re-step Maria Cattiva mast...


RSB Rig Pro re-stepped the 50 meter mast onboard the Bruce King designed, modern classic sloop; Maria Cattiva earlier today. The mast had undergone a refit including reheading or replacement of rods and fittings, servicing of sheaves and fittings and a full repaint. The stepping procedure went according to plan and the boat was back in her berth by early afternoon allowing the team to continue with redressing the 62 meter mast that is due to be stepped onboard Red Dragon next week.

RSB Rig Pro has a busy January....


RSB Rig Pro had a busy start to the year with the re-stepping and tuning of Mr A's wing mast which had been out for service work. This was followed by the unstepping of the masts on the Swan 82, Shiraz and the 34 meter Dubois designed Imagine B. Both masts have been removed for a full standing rigging service that will be carried out over the next 2 months.
Mark Timmins also flew to Athens to remove the boom for painting and perform a full rig inspection on the Swan 100, Aquarius Alfa and Company Director Steve Branagh was sailing onboard the new IRC 52 race boat Highland Fling in Key West before flying down to Antigua for the Super Yacht Challenge where he was a trimmer onboard the stunning Hoek designed ketch, Marie

RSB Rig Pro unstep Missy...

RSB Rig Pro unstepped the mast onboard the Swan 66, Missy yesterday. The boat is in Palma for the winter refit period and during this time the Future Fibres PBO cables will be inspected and any work carried out as necessary. The mast and boom will be stored in the STP yard and will also be checked before being re-stepped in March 2012.

RSB Rig Pro unstep Orion mast...

RSB Rig Pro unstepped the 35 meter wing mast onboard Orion; a 30 meter Katana catamaran earlier this week. The unstepping procedure went as planned however there were a few tense moments when the wind picked up as the mast was lifted and started acting as a wing, threatening to lift the boys on the tag lines with it. The mast will remain on the ground while the boat undergoes a refit carried out by BM Composites over the winter months.

RSB Rig Pro unstep Alexia's mast...


RSB Rig Pro unstepped the 45 meter Hall Spar rig from the Wally 98; Alexia earlier this morning. The boat is out of the water for a winter refit and the decision to unstep was made last week to enable the mast to be repainted at the same time. Weather conditions were perfect and the mast was secure in the hi-load trollies by 1030, allowing the crew to go for their morning coffee and cake.

RSB Rig Pro and THL unstep Tenaz rig...


While the mast was being re-stepped onboard Bramora at one end of the yard, in the large travel lift pit at the other end the RSB team were also working with THL to unstep the 43 meter mast onboard the Dubois designed sloop Tenaz. The mast has been unstepped for a rod refit which will be undertaken by BSI. The mast came out with out any problems and the undressing procedure was started straight away.

RSB Rig Pro restep Bramora....


RSB Rig Pro completed the restepping procedure on Bramora earlier on Thursday. The mast was unstepped in late September for an 8 year rod refit and to enable NDT inspections to be carried out on the pins, sheaves and goosenecks. The rig and boom went back in without any hitches and the whole operation was completed by lunch time.

RSB Rig Pro unstep Luskentyre....


RSB Rig Pro unstepped the 32 meter mast on the Oyster 72; Luskentyre earlier yesterday morning. The boat is in Palma to undertake a rod refit over the next few months and will also undertake various other maintenance projects while this work is carried out.
