P2 – PERINI NAV 125ft
The first Perini Navi 125ft, P2 was launched in June 2008, with its sistership “Dahlak” launched only last year.
For Philippe Briand and Perini Navi, this yacht is the first of a line of very fast sailing yachts. Her American owner insisted on an outstanding performance. She is of medium to light displacement at less than 140 tons. Waterline length has been stretched to the maximum, as her bow is almost vertical. For upwind sailing, she has a sail plan with a high aspect ratio. This version has a lifting keel. Her track record on the superyacht racing circuit is second to none, with podium finishes in 18 out of the 21 regattas she entered.

AWARDS
P2 received a number of awards in 2009, including 3 World Superyacht Awards.“Best sail boat 30 – 40 m”, “Best styling” and “Best sail boat 2009 overall” in May. She was also awarded the Showboats International Award for “Best sail boat under 45m” in October. After a second place at the St Barth Bucket Regatta in March 2009, she won the Newport Bucket in July 2009.

REFIT MAIN GOAL:
The client’s mission statement, just after acquiring her, was to replace the existing rigging for the latest in carbon technology. The natural choice for this technically astute owner was ECsix, Future Fibres´ multistrand carbon rigging.

ADVANTAGE PROVIDED:
As with the owners´ first SY refit, the conversion on P2 has exceeded the expectations. Given the previous supply by FF of all PBO standing rigging, the new ECsix cables offer further weight and windage savings. Further to these advantages the refit to ECsix also improves boat movement at anchor whilst additionally reducing pitching and rolling motion under sail. This product not only improves the boats performance and comfort, but also has extended rigging service and replacement cycles whilst improving the aesthetics of the boat.
